Funeral services for Leon Stokes, 88, were held Friday, May 17, 2013 at Parsons Mortuary Chapel with Jimmy Cooper and Kevin Bromley officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. A flag ceremony was conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Stokes passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora Morris Stokes and Harden Ed Stokes; a brother, John Stokes; two sisters, Margaret Beal and Ethel Warren.
Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife, Willodeen “Deen” Campbell Stokes; a daughter, Sharlotte “Diann” Powers (Wayne) of Decaturville; two grandchildren, Anthony (Stacy) Powers and Edwina (Rodney) Gamble; and three great-grandchildren, Stetson Powers, Dustin Gamble and Sierra Gamble.
Serving as pallbearers were William Hendrix, Tracy Hendrix, Lewis Dickson, Bill Barnickle, Will Quinn and Brent Ricketts. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Scott, Gene Tolley and James Rushing.
