Looks real doesn’t it –– but the above $20 bill is a counterfeit. The Parsons Police Department is asking the public to be aware of counterfeit $20 bills that have begun to circulate in the area. According to Investigator Joe Vaughn, counterfeit bills have not only turned up locally, but across much of West Tennessee as well. “Over the past three weeks we have gotten calls from some of our local banks that have spotted the counterfeits,” noted Vaughn. “We forward the notes ($20 bills) over to the Secret Service and they handle the investigation.” Local businesses are urged to become more vigilant in checking for counterfeit bills and the public is asked for their patience if checkout takes a little longer at some stores. undefined
