The Decatur County Senior Center ended their Sept., Oct. and Nov. Canasta tournament Friday, Nov. 22. The winners of this three-month tournament were from left, Ginny Austin, first place; Louise Buckner, second place; and Mary Counce, third place.

This past week we had the opportunity to make a donation to the Decatur County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse from our Friday night social group. Pictured are VFW Commander Glen Ford and Clay Jordan with check and gifts.

District Governor Robin Cantana visited with the Scotts Hill Lions Club for their potluck style Christmas dinner. While there, Mrs. Cantana presented awards to Bill Hulley for 30 years service and to Glenda Thornhill and Lela Brigance for 10 years each.

The City of Parsons observes Tree Day annually in observance of the Urban Tree Grant that has provided the trees that beautify the city. In celebration of the day, this fall, Parsons Library Director Kay Townsend read the book Franklin Plants a Tree to these library visitors.

The Decatur County Senior Center had their monthly birthday party Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.  Present with a birthday during the month was Terry Endsley. Everyone enjoyed the cake and ice cream along with the fellowship, food and fun!
