According to a press release from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Dept., three vehicles were vandalized during the evening of March 28 in the area of Haney School Road and Green Branch Road causing several thousands of dollars worth of damage. It was also noted that a Taurus 357 pistol which was in the glove box of one of the vehicles and a Landstar side-by-side were also stolen.
Two days later, deputies of DCSO located the side-by-side behind a residence on Haney School Road. Inv. Stephen Whitlock identified for male juveniles in age ranging from 15-17 and determined they were responsible for the theft on March 28.
Three of the four juveniles were charged with theft from a motor vehicle, theft of property over $1,000 and two counts of vandalism of $1,000. The fourth is currently at large but warrants have been taken out for the same charges as the others. The three juveniles were all released to their parents and have pending court appearances.
The side-by-side and pistol were both recovered and returned to the owner.
