Emily Fay “Micky” Whitwell Wooley, 84, departed this life Monday, June 13, 2022 at her home in the Beacon community of Decatur County.

She was born Feb. 17, 1938, the fourth of nine children to Kent and Evelyn Duncan Whitwell. Her siblings were Arden (Shirley Woods), Helen Moore (W.R.), Freida Lewis (Tony), Gail Pearcy (Paul), Linda Loggins (Thomas) and Andy (Carolyn Cruse) and two brothers who died in infancy.

In 1969 Emily married Cleon Wooley. They had an adopted daughter, Carla Duck; two granddaughters, Fallon and Zoey Duck; a great-grandson, Dawson Chandler; son, Harold Wooley; daughter, Christine (Gibson); grandson, Shane (Joni Herndon) Hardison; and granddaughter, Cindy (David Wilbanks).

She was a homemaker who loved gardening, preserving the fruits of her labor and was an avid reader. Emily was a Christian who lived her faith daily.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; granddaughter, Fallon; and her husband.

The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice, Volunteer Home Health, a special aide and friend, Rose Pratt, a special nephew, Randall Pearcy and Gina Stout who cared for her as her health declined.

A memorial will be announced at a later date.

Oakdale Funeral Home-Decatur County is in charge of the arrangements.
