Joel D. Cates, 42, of Parsons, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 at Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Hill Cates of Parsons; mother, Glenda (Dale) Tinin of Parsons; son, Jacob Cates of Parsons; daughter, Rachel Cates of Parsons; brother, Chris Tinin of Knoxville; sisters, Brittney Bedwell of Linden and Katlyn Cates of Parsons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Cates.

Visitation with his family will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 from 1 until 8 p.m. at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Rosson Cemetery in Parsons.
