Our members have been ringing 2020 the right way. Before we get into all the exciting upcoming events, here’s a little recap from December.
In December, our annual fruit sale ended. With each fundraiser that we do, there is always a little friendly competition. It is because of our members’ eagerness to be the highest seller and win a free lunch or gift card, we were able to reach our goal in funds for the fruit sale. We greatly appreciate the support we receive from the community in all we do and thank you for buying fruit from us.
Also, in December, a group of RHS FFA freshmen members competed in the regional competition for Conduct of a Chapter Meeting (CCM). In this competition, members learn the correct way to conduct an FFA chapter meeting, as well as learn what the different officer positions duties are/how the positions are to be conducted. Our team made it to the final round and finished sixth overall in West TN. Congratulations to the team.
To finish up 2019 and to celebrate the Christmas season, RHS FFA officers met for their annual officer Christmas party. It was filled with fun, laughter, food and best of all, awesome officers!
As 2020 has begun, so has the hard work of our members. The classroom activities and FFA events are back into full swing. At the end of January, a team representing Riverside FFA will travel to Martin to compete in the West TN Horse Judging Competition. They have been practicing constantly in hopes to bring home the win. We wish good luck to those members participating and representing Riverside FFA.
Secondly, another big event for RHS FFA is soon approaching. The annual Quiz Bowl Competition will be held Feb. 8 in the Riverside cafeteria. This event is open to anyone wanting to participate in a fun-filled night of friendly competition and fellowship. The cost is $26 per person or $160 for a team of six people. Registration can be made by calling Richie Ruehl at 731-697-1816. We hope to see you there!
