The 62nd annual World Jamboree On the Air was held Saturday, Oct. 19. In celebration of this great event, the Central District held a camporee in order to be a host. Scouts from Troop 29 had the opportunity to attend and take part.
On Saturday morning there was a cooking contest. Local judges include Eddie Bray, Jim Cooper, Deborah Teague and Steve and Phyllis McDaniel. It was a hard job to choose which patrol made the best breakfast. Later that morning there were patrol competitions that included a compass course and several relay type races. After lunch J. Ben Barnett and members of the local game radio group K4BEZ came and set up the radio equipment. During the afternoon the scouts had a chance to talk to other scouts in different states and countries. Several scouts talked to someone from NASA.
The scouts had a great time. The members of the Central District activities committee would like to thank the people of Parkers Crossroads and Henderson County for all their help in making this great event happen.
