RHS hurler Baylee Mills commits to Lindsey Wilson College

Baylee Mills has been a force on the mound for the Lady Panthers since her freshman year. She has always wanted to play at the next level, but thought it might not be attainable after an injury this past summer. On a visit accompanying her best friend Melaina Tucker last September she realized it was reachable. “Went on Melaina’s visit there in Kentucky,” said Mills. She continued, “I was still on crutches, but after talking to them and them seeing my numbers they became interested and asked if I would like to come back with my family for an official visit. It all went from there and now I’m ready to resume my pitching career.”

Lady Panther Head Coach Mike Box commented, “So proud for Baylee. She works hard at the game. Always going to camps and just working to get better. Her hitting is so much better now than her freshman year. Looking forward to having her one more season, Lindsey Wilson is getting a great player.”

Last year she compiled a 13-7 pitching record with one save. She struck out 95 batters in 114 innings pitched. She also batted .309 with five RBIs and 20 RBIs in the Lady Panthers run to the state tournament last season.

Mills also said, “Having a chance to go with Melaina made me want to go there even more. Loved the small town atmosphere, made me feel like back home. Don’t think I would have came without her though. She has been my best friend forever and definitely makes it more comfortable with her going.” Mills added, “Playing at Riverside has been a better ride than I could’ve ever imagined. Love the girls, Coach Box and all the other coaches. Softball is what I look forward to the most when I go to school. Going to state last year was a blast and excited to get back this year. It’s bittersweet being a senior, I have played ball with these girls most of my life. Going to be hard to part with, but got one more year. Want to have fun and make a statement at state.”
